These terms are adapted from the terms published on our original Daxie Den website. Your completed forms, written booking confirmation and any service-specific agreement also form part of your booking.
Full and honest information
You agree to provide complete and accurate information about your dog. Please disclose behaviour, health, routines, anxieties, reactivity, toileting, barking, destructive behaviour, phobias and anything else that could affect your dog, people, resident dogs, other guests, our homes or neighbours. Suitability is always decided with welfare and safety first.
Emergency contact and unsuitable behaviour
You must nominate an emergency contact who has agreed to take over care if an emergency occurs or if your dog can no longer be safely cared for. Where a dog is removed because of undisclosed or unsafe behaviour, a refund will not be due. The owner remains responsible for costs arising from injury or damage caused by their dog.
Introductions and trials
New dogs must complete the settling-in process agreed for their service. This may include a meet and greet, daycare sessions and a paid overnight trial before a longer stay. A trial does not guarantee that every future booking will be suitable.
Health and changes
Dogs must arrive in good health. Current illness, medication and relevant changes must be disclosed. A dog with a suspected contagious condition may need to be collected immediately by the emergency contact, without refund, and may return only when a vet confirms in writing that there is no risk to other dogs or people.
Arrival and collection times
Agreed drop-off and collection times are appointments. If you expect to be more than 15 minutes late, contact us before the arranged time so that another time can be agreed. Availability outside the agreed time cannot be guaranteed.
Payments and confirmation
Following a successful introduction, a 20% booking fee is required. If care begins in fewer than seven days, full payment is required. The remaining balance is due seven days before check-in. A booking is not confirmed until the required payment and forms have been received. Unpaid spaces may be released after 24 hours.
Cancellations
If you cancel at least seven days before check-in, the booking fee may be held on account for future care; where no future booking is required it is non-refundable. If you cancel within seven days or do not arrive, the full amount remains payable. Cancellations must be made in writing by email, text or Facebook message.
Contact with other dogs
Social-care dogs may have supervised contact with compatible dogs from other households. Dogs from separate households are not left together unsupervised or overnight. Dogs from the same household may share time and sleeping arrangements where you consent. Solo care is for one household at a time.
Puppies
Where suitable, puppies may receive supervised, positive social experiences with people and compatible dogs. Training is force-free and reward-based, exercise is appropriate to age and development, and rest or separation is provided when needed.
Food, supplies and veterinary costs
You must provide enough food, medication and agreed supplies. The cost of additional items is payable by you. Please tell your vet that we are caring for your dog. You are responsible for veterinary fees and must reimburse any costs paid by Daxie Den.
Medical emergencies
We will try to contact you and your emergency contact. Where time is critical, you authorise us to seek treatment at the nearest appropriate veterinary practice in line with your signed veterinary release. A dog showing signs of infectious disease will be isolated while veterinary advice is sought.
Walks and leads
Unless otherwise agreed, dogs are exercised using a secure collar or harness and lead. Off-lead exercise is only considered with specific written consent and an off-lead disclaimer.
Continuity of care
If serious accident or illness affects a Daxie Den carer, suitable emergency cover will be arranged, involving your emergency contact wherever possible and using Daxie Den's boarding provision as far as possible.
Vaccinations and parasite control
Dogs must meet our vaccination requirements, or have accepted titre-test evidence, and be appropriately treated for fleas, ticks and worms. Courses should be complete at least two weeks before boarding. We may decline a dog that appears unwell. Please disclose recent kennel or large-daycare stays because of infection risk.
Dogs in season
Depending on the service and circumstances, we may be unable to accept an unneutered female who is due in, in or around a season. Tell us the expected dates at enquiry and again before arrival.
Transport
When we transport a dog, they will be safely restrained by a suitable crate, guard or harness. We minimise time left in a vehicle, monitor conditions and arrange alternative transport if necessary. Illness during travel is assessed and veterinary help sought when needed.
Late collection or abandonment
If a dog is not collected within two days of the agreed date and neither the owner nor emergency contact can be reached, the dog may be treated as abandoned and appropriate welfare arrangements made.
Our commitment
Daxie Den will provide agreed services in a reliable, caring and trustworthy manner. Nothing in these terms excludes responsibilities that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability arising from our negligence.
